Before I buy Actinic

Hi,

I have been asked by a relation to help build a site for them and actinic seems ideal.

Before I purchase it however on there behalf I would like to find out if I can purchase the software, install it on my computer. Set up the site and then remove the software from my computer and put it on my relations computer where they can then continue to run the site.

That should pose no problems. People here do exactly that all the time. Actinic has a "Snapshot" facility that's designed for transferring sites just as you want.

I myself have not yet purchased Actinic Catalog (or I should say the non-profit I work for has not yet purchased it), but am going to this coming week for 2 main reasons:
1) The 30-day fully functioning demo allowed me to see if I could fulfill required needs; and
2) This support group is VERY helpful and effective.

I have been working on a web store at work and at home, and have experienced no problems in moving the "snapshot" exports between the 2 PCs, including doing an upgrade from 6.0.1 to 6.1.4. I have changed the structure & function of the web site numerous times, and find the snapshot export very handy, as I can do a backup any time I figure out a solution for a particular issue.

I purchased Actinic approx 3 months ago. I was a little concerned about the higher price against other "cheaper" software. Since developing my site with the help of the Actinic Community and the developers help I have already earned my initial layout of money for Actinic. I particularly found the 30 day FULL trial and support was very helpfull. You can fully trial the software uploading it to actinics trial area. That was terrific for checking out all the functionality of it.

Thanks for the replies. I have been using the demo software and it seems extremly good. Will there be a problem installing the software on the second pc after I have taken it of mine though with licence numbers etc?

No problems Rossa.
Sounds like your about to do exactly what I did.
Just install Actinic on the new PC.
Make sure you have done a snapshot export from the first PC.
Then Snapshot import the site and "wallah" it should all be there.
