    postage

    Hi

I have a feeling this may not be possible but.......

a customer of ours has asked for the postage rates to be calculated as a percentage of the value of the order, eg: -

    UK + 10%, 3-7 days (free over £25)
    Europe + 15%, 5-10 days
Outside Europe, surface mail + 20%, 8-12 weeks
    Outside Europe, airmail + 25%, 2 weeks

    can anyone help?!?!?

    cheers

I'd have though you just need to set up the calculation basis as value, set a base rate and then set the incremental percentage rate as whatever you want.

    have you tried this ?

Maybe I'm confused, but £0.01 per £1.00 would be 1%, £0.02 per £1.00 would be 2%, etc, etc.

          Hi Craig

As Mike said, you need to set up postage calcs by value.
For UK customers (10% free over £25) you would create a table

          Order Value Postage
          £1 10p
          £2 20p
          .
          .
          £24 £2.40
          £25+ 0

The amount of entries you make is down to how much accuracy your customer requires. As outlined above, you'd get 10% posatge to the nearest 10p, which I would have thought is near enough.

Don't think there is a way of working actual percentages though.

You don't need a huge table because you can use the 'excess' calculation to do the sums for you. If you set it to £0.01 for each £0.10 excess then that's your 10% figure.

Then you set the 'free over' value to be £25.00

              thanks for you help

i cannot use the "free over" tick box as i will mean that overseas deliveries will be free which i dont want, needs to be uk only.

with regards the - If you set it to £0.01 for each £0.10 excess then that's your 10% figure.

thats fine but on europe and overseas where i have 15% and 25% will i be able to set the price as £0.025? or is it best to set as £0.25 for each £1.00?

The 15% is certainly a bugger.

                25% is just £0.01 for each £0.04

Given the difficulty with 15% and the need to use defined tables (to get the free above £25 for Uk only) , I'd ask the client if he minded the postage being defined as:

x% of the total (where the total is rounded down to the nearest £).

That would make your life much easier.
