Actinic and JD Edwards?

Hi all,

We are in the development stages of our store, and we were told we need a way to move the orders from Actinic to JD Edwards, to save having to re-enter the orders manually. Our first thought was if the output from the shopping cart is XML, we could develop a way to parse that into something JDE could recognize. Has anyone used these two packages together, that could give us advice on where to start?

Actinic is really good for exporting, it has an export function that allows you to either export outstanding exports (which would pick up orders that are completely processed and export them) or to select individual orders and export them. It produces a series of files that you can then take and convert into the appropriate format for your third party system. The other way to go would be to take the information out of the database itself, Actinic uses an access database and so it totally open.

If this is a task that you don't want to tackle yourself, we provide a custom export service - ie we could write a program for you to do this - also some of the Actinic resellers would be able to provide the same sort of service so it might be worth asking for quotes on this forum.

As mentioned by Jan, an Actinic reseller (such as myself) would be able to provide a way to transform orders into a form suitable for import to another system. I am currently working on doing this for Navision, Maginus, Davilex and Ariba. Adding JD Edwards to the list should not present any problem.

Chris send me some details of what you have done in the past and I will keep a record so that I can pass peope over to you. I don't know any of those systems so a one line description of them would be useful.

I get a lot of requests from people for exports/import systems, so if like Chris any of the other resellers specialise in writing systems to import or export from Actinic send me an email over with a list of what you have off the shelf and also what you have provided as custom products and then I can redirect enquiries to you if they come to me. There is no point in reinventing the wheel in my opinion.
