    Newbie Navigation Question

We're just about to purchase Actinic Business and build a new site to replace our existing one, but would just like to ask a question to see if a requirement on our current wish-list is possible with Actinic

We sell hair/beauty products and would like the navigation to work in two ways. Firstly we would like to be able to narrow down products by having catergories like...

Shampoo | for hair type... | Brand
Conditioner | for hair type... | Brand
    etc

But also some people prefer to locate products straight from the brand, so is a secondary navigation system like...

Brand | (full brand product listing...)

...also possible from the 'home' page?

Many thanks for any help and advice you can offer (also hope I'm making some sense! )

You could do this but would have to have two products for each shampoo, Actinic has ways of linking the products together for pricing and stock monitoring purposes but it is not straight forward to set up.

We sell a product that allows you to replicate products easily in Actinic.

Actinic has a 30 day trial, I would suggest that you use this to make sure that Actinic meets your requirements before buying it.

If you are using Actinic Business then you can set up custom fields to search on i.e. allow your customers to find all products in brand X.

You can set up the sections of your store by hair type, and then by brand.

For customers that want to jump stright to a brand you can creat a custom search field (or 'Custom Property') in 'Adcanced | Custom Properties'. Add a new row to the grid and call it 'Brand'.

Then for each product go to the 'Properties' tab, add a new row to the grid and select 'Brand' in the drop-down. Supply a value for the brand in the 'Value' field.

Once you have done this to all your products, go to 'View | Search Settings | Searchable Properties'. Add a new row to the grid, select 'Brand' in the drop down and enter 'Jump straight to a brand' in the 'Label' field.

Customers will then be able to jump straight to a brand in your 'search' page online.
