Seperate Order Processing With Stock Control?

    Hi,

We're looking to split catalog maintance and order processing between two different machines but...... Reading the help file it says that stock monitoring will be disabled, is there any way of keeping the stock monitoring enabled? Does "Order Manager" allow for this or is it simply catalog with the catalog bit disabled?

    Many Thanks
    Liam

If you split Catalog Maintenance and Order Processing across two machines then automatic stock monitoring will be unavailable.

Note - if you are uploading on one machine and then downloading onto a different machine you can use the same Actinic Catalog key on both machines.

You can count stock down on the machine that is downloading, but the productstock levels in the uploading machine will not be updated, so products will not marked as being out of stock etc. even when you have downloaded enough orders to put the item out of stock. You will have to manually update stock levels in the uploading machine when products go out of stock.

      Hi Chris,

I suggested to Liam that he could write a module to collect stock control values from the stock monitoring machine into a linked database on the update machine, these could be applied to the Actinic database by a process that is run by one of my moles (which Liam already uses) before update - what do you think?

      Regards,

Yes -- that would work really well.
