    VAT rounding?

Can't get a price of £5 to display with vat included. It either comes up £4.99 or £5.01. Actually, that's a lie because when I altered the TAX option to 'round item down' it worked, but at the expense of about 6 other products that now have the previous problem.

This doesn't look professional, is there a cunning method to overcome this?

    Custom Tax

You can enter custom tax amounts into the tax treatment section in the product details box.

Drop down the menu to select Custom and then enter an amount in the custom tax box. i.e. Item price 4.25 and then .75 in the custom tax gives a total price of £5.00 on your site.

If the 'including VAT at 17.49%' is annoying then you can disable it.

    Design -> Text -> Advanced:Language -> Shopping Cart/Receipt section...

Look for a prompt statement that says 'Including: %s' delete it, and replace it with the words 'Including VAT' which solves the problem.

    Hope that helps, best wishes

        Which one do you use?

        Hi there,
Silly question I suppose but I just wondered which type of Tax rounding you guys use and why.

I'm currently using Round Line Scientific, I dont have any problems with it but wondered if there is a better choice?

I have a customer getting grumpy with this same old problem. He says "Why can other sites have all the prices in whole pounds and we can't". He is not willing to have 17.49% vat. Any other suggestions
          Urgent!
This causes so much upset with all my customers.
          Thanks

If you dont want the message 'Including VAT at 17.49%' appearing then you can go to 'Design | Text' and search for 'Including %s'. Change this to read 'Including VAT'.

This is the only way around the issue at the moment.

              Another workaround

              Hi,

Can anyone spot any problems with this approach?

              Requirements
I want to show users that the displayed price includes VAT.
I want to enter VAT inclusive product prices and not have to worry about VAT be added at a specific rate.
I don't want to have to edit the custom tax for EVERY product.

              Solution
Select Display Tax Inclusive Prices (Design | Options | Misc.)
              Set rate to 0.000...1
Modify 'Including...' text as described by Helen

              Outcome
VAT entry does not appear on Cart, Chekout, Receipt, Email

              Observations
On returning to the Design dialog, the rate has been rounded to 0.0000 and I have to add in the very insignificant 1 again, since a rate of 0 is not permitted! No big deal.

              Any obvious flaws?

              Thanks
              Neil

One major disadvantage for a VAT registered company would be that the vat receipt is not legal I think. OK if the retailer is not VAT registered though.

                  VAT Registration

                  Mike,

Thanks for the feedback - I was hoping that this would be the case. Clearly, the VAT treatment issue will affect each company in a different way. I want to keep our treatment as simple as possible for now.

                  Thanks
                  Neil
