where do images go when uploading?

hi there,

i have just taken over updating the home page since web was designed, i am trying to update the home page with a new image in the shared boarders or template throughout the web. I am placing images in the images folder directly under site 1 folder). the image is commng up online with an X, in red. Where do i put the image or do i need to somehow upload it? I am using dreamweaver. Thanks anyhow all.

Once uploaded all images, regardless of where they were on your PC, are put into the acatalog directory on the server.

If you right-click that error icon then "Properties" will tell you where your HTML expects it to be.
