    Error- Version Negotiation Request

    Hello everyone,

When I try to upload the site I'm working on I get the message
    Error sending version negotiation request.

Can anyone tell me what this means and thus how to fix it, I am hoping it is something blindingly obvious that I've been too stupid to spot.

    Ta very much

    Hi,

I'm sorry but we've never seen this message before.

Please answer the following questions so we can try to pinpoint what is happening?

    1. Have you managed to upload before?
    2. What results does the test in 'Advanced | Network Setup' bring up?
    3. At what point does it occur in the upload process?
    4. Have you made any changes to the perl scripts or templates?
    5. Who is your hosting company?

      Ok dokey,

before I answer all these points I just wondered if the problem could be because the version I have installed is the Trial version, it expired but then my 'client' purchased the full version of Catalog and gave me the key-code but not the disc. (I thought it was the same program though!?)

      1. Have you managed to upload before?
Yes, to a trial space. Actinic set it all up for me.

      2. What results does the test in 'Advanced | Network Setup' bring up?
This is grayed out and cannot be selected

      3. At what point does it occur in the upload process?
I get the the message saying 'you have chosen not to use P3P Privacy policy etc...' then the error appears after I click that away.

      4. Have you made any changes to the perl scripts or templates?
Minor changes to templates, but I also tried uploading a completely unaltered one and had the same problem.

      5. Who is your hosting company?
      virtualnames.co.uk
They have a list of all the Actinic settings on their help pages which I have followed exactly (to the best of my knowledge) but it did'nt make any difference.

      Any ideas?

      Thanks for your help,
      Simon

        Hi,

Ah, if you look in the 'Advanced | Network Setup' window, does it say 'Actinic Host Mode' at the top above the FTP details? If so, click on the 'Convert' button and select 'Yes' when it asks if you want to convert to 'normal mode'. You may then have to re-input your settings again.

I just wondered if the problem could be because the version I have installed is the Trial version, it expired but then my 'client' purchased the full version of Catalog and gave me the key-code but not the disc.
This would not make a difference.

          Hi there

          yes it does say that.

I haven't tried it yet but I've got a good feeling this will do the trick.

          Thanks for all your help.
