Component name over-riding Product name in shopping cart

Hi!

In the shopping cart display, when using components, is there a way of having a single line for a product which doesn't display the component name?

My problems is this:

I have a product which offers different pack sizes at differing prices.

Set up product with:
- component of "WEIGHT",
- attribute "CHOOSE PACK SIZE",
- choices "300g," "400g" etc

When I select "No order line for main product" I get the single line with quantity, but it doesn't display the Product Name.

Or if I remove this I have two lines
- Product name with quantity
- Component name, pack size, quantity.

Although this gives all the information I find it confusing have two quantities (even though one is not editable).

Is there a solution for this, am I missing some simple explanation??

Hi there

Yes there is an option for this in Version 7. It is within the general tab of the product, when you select for "Pricing Model", "Sum of Component Prices".

Thanks...but if I require the pricing model to be the product price ie. the product price is the same for all the choices within the component is the 'no order line for main product' option still available.

Without this I have to apply the changes to the perl document as two quantities are shown at checkout - for the main product and component. This doesn't follow through to my Crystal Reports though. Is there any method you can recommend to allow me to use the product price for components but remove the main product from all the transaction processes.

I'm afraid not, this option is only available in "Sum of Component Prices".

This doesn't follow through to my Crystal Reports though.

If you set the No Order line for main product, then the packing list and invoice will only show the component choice. The actinic order tab will still show the master product and the choice. But that would be internal for you to see only.
