    A to Z - how?

    Hello All,

Any ideas on how I create an A to Z site map of products?

    Thanks

Put all your sections in alphabetical order on the site??

There is probably a way to sort one of the javascript lists (Act_Section_tree.js or whatever) but i'm no expert on javascript

Jan at mole end has a replication tool that could probably do it automatically for you. I haven't used it myself but I'd imagine that if you created a single line product template (could be just a product link) then you could use the tool to create your A-Z directory.

The only alternative is to do the above manually, (or possible via an external tool such as excel). i.e.:

      1) Create a product template that is just a link on a single line.

      2) For each product you have, copy and paste into your A-Z directory section.

      3) Change the products to use the single line template.

      4) Sort them into the right order.

I'm sure Jan will let us know if her software can do the job for you. It would be much easier to have it automated.

The Mole End product replication tool makes it easier for you to have the same product in multiple sections, so you could use it to create the copies and then link them back to the main products, this would make it easier to keep them in line.

If you want to make a section for each product in this map then it will be a fairly manual process still but you could still use product replication to keep the titles, prices etc up to date.

The tool is only available for business because it uses the external database linking options in Actinic.

I do have a product that will probably help you more though, I have a little sorting tool that you can use to sort your products into alphabetical order. See

        http://www.mole-end.biz/acatalog/Cat...ting_Tool.html

for more details, it is free for product sorting but their is a small charge for the version that sorts sections.

            Fake with search?

Wouldn't it be possible to fake this by running a search which picks up a hidden keywords field?
Then populate this field with AZ-A, AZ-B...etc.
Then create a set of links to something like
            /cgi-bin/ss000001.pl?PAGE=SEARCH&SS=AZ-A&TB=A&PR=-1
