settting minimum order value

can anyone tell me how to set a minimum order value.
i have read the advanced user guide and can find out where to change the values.. my problem is that i'm not sure what program to use to read the file.
i've got actinic catalogue v.4 and using win xp.
i use spreadsheet to view the text but when i try to add the value to set minimum value, i thought the rest of the text would move down, it doesn't, so i would have to replace everything under it, and there is a hell of a lot. i hope i've explained this well enough for anyone to understand

To edit the Perl file, you should open it in Notepad or Wordpad - not a spreadsheet program.

If it goes wrong, you can find an original version of the perl file within the 'Actinic Ecommerce v4\Original' folder on your PC. Copy this file into your 'Site1' folder.

Please note that there is no guarantee that this fix will work with v4 - it was only developed for v5.
