Custom Search ??

Hello all -- new client new project.

Can I construct the following:

List of brands; say --

Compaq
HP
IBM

List of models for each brand

Say for Compaq:
Deskpro 2000
Deskpro EN


Can I construct a seach that limits the seach criteria to a particular brand?

If I make multiple searchable attributes, I can construct the search I want, but I can only have AND or OR as the boolean operator. What I want is to seach on ONLY one of the fields.

This can be achieved, but you will need Business or Developer version of Actinic. Business/Developer have a feature for searchable properties

Sorry for the confusion.

I have developer > hence the DEVELOPER under my name ;-)

My question was badly formed - sorry

As I indicated I can do what you suggest in Developer.

What I want to construct is a search function that only searches within a SECTION ie limit my search to a particular section. In my case only search within the COMPAQ section. (I want to limit the free text search to a section). Not define a new search field.

Actinic searches on a global scale, it searches on Meta tags, meta description, short description and full description.

So you could try having specific keywords for that particular section, and not having it referenced anywhere else

I'll give it a try.

The site has a catalog of 5000+ parts and some repition.

I'll try your suggesyion.

You can also select 'Allow Searching By Section' in 'View | Search Settings | Options' for limiting the search to specific sections.
