VAT calculation error - double correct value

    Hi

Has anyone come across this before? It's weird....

Product prices are entered free of VAT but displayed in the catalogue with VAT included at 17.5%, and seem correct. However, when adding something to the cart, and the cart is displayed here or using the explicit "show cart" feature, the VAT appears to have been calculated at 35%, i.e. double the correct rate. Proceeding to the checkout, the on-screen receipt also shows a VAT sum calculated at double the correct amount. However when the order is retrieved and the invoice printed, it is shown correctly at 17.5% (i.e. 1x, not 2x).

The only change I am aware of making is that I've migrated the site from www.nickdobsonwines.co.uk/acatalog to www.nickdobsonwines.co.uk, i.e. I have removed the old site that my new site was running alongside, to test it live.

I would not have thought this would have introduced an error such as this one.

    Any ideas anyone?

    Regards

    Nick

More info on this one - on closer inspection it is double-counting VAT only on those products made up of components. These have their pricing model set to "Product Price", however I experimented with it set to "Sum of Product and Components prices" and the behaviour was the same.

    So it's components (again).....

    Any ideas anyone?

I have never seen this problem before. Errors of this kind are normally caused by the section 'BLOB's (*.cat files) on the website getting out of synch with the desk top application.

I would like you to firstly do a refresh 'Web | Refresh Website' in order to ensure that the *.cat files on the online store are bang up to date and correct.

If this does not work, I would need to take it up with the development team. Could you please email me a snapshot of your site and I'll raise a support request.

        Hi Chris

I tried the total refresh but the problem is still there. It's definitely only there for products made up of components. Try my mixed cases page, and compare the cases; the only one on the page not to be made of components is the lucky dip, although the summer wines case has had them temporarily removed for test purposes.

I'll mail you the snapshot as you request.

I heard a rumour this was a known bug & will be fixed in 6.0.3 - any truth in this, and any workaround now?

This is not a problem we have ever seen before - so we have referred your question to the development team to try and find what is going on.

There is a bug here in that when a product is a collection of components that use associated product prices and the pricing model is set to 'Product Price' then the VAT is calculated on both the product price and the total of the associated product prices.

The way to workaround this in your store Nick is to untick 'use associated product prices' for the components in the problematic products.

                  Hi Chris

Thanks for the clarification. Will this be fixed in a forthcoming release?
