REQUEST: Sorting of Sections!

This is a really basic feature which actinic should have, but still doesn't...

In our catalog we've got about 80 sections and about 150 products within them.
At the moment, if you want to change the order in which the sections appear on the web page, you have to re-arrange the ENTIRE catalog in reverse order manually by moving the sections to the top of the list. This takes about 30 minutes to do, and is very frustrating/tedious.

If you try to move a section part-way up the list, actinic assumes you want to put it inside another section, you SHOULD be able to re-arrange the sections in a similar way to re-arranging a playlist in Winamp for example.

PLEASE! consider this as an update/plugin, its one of the things that sometimes makes actinic feel a little bit cheap and nasty I'm afraid!

Thanks for replying - I've just checked out the plugin from Mole-End.
Its' useful but unfortunately it still doesn't allow me to move sections around freely, only sort them alphabeticaly or by reference number.

Where is the catalog structure information held? Could I edit it in any other way?

Okay i see what you want. Hmm.. the catalog sections are held in an access 2000 database. If you have a look into your site1 folder (C:\Program Files\Actinic Ecommerce v6\Sites\Site1), you will see a file called Actiniccatalog.mdb

Open this, and look for "Catalog section" table

Here is where the sections are kept. However it might be difficult to achieve what you would like

I will add your comments to the wishlist to the developers.

When you drop the section, hold down the shift key. This means that the section is dropped as a sibling of the target section, not as a child.

Alternatively, use cut and paste. Again, when pasting, you have a choice of where to place the section: Edit | Paste, Edit | Paste as subsection.
