    Actinic not Capable!!??

    Hi

I've spent the last 4 months working on an Actinic e-commerce site and am now getting pressure from the powers that be to switch to a product called Karova because they believe that this package can achieve functionality that I'm struggling to achieve in Actinic. I don't believe this to be so, but my learn-as-you-go limited knowledge of Actinic is not helping me fight it's corner. I have attached a jpg of the style I'm trying to achieve. Can anyone tell me if this can be done and if so how to edit templates etc.

    Thanks

    Sarah

I am assuming that you already have Actinic V6 which cannot provide what you require without quite big workarounds.

Having said that I am led to believe that V7 will handle your requirements with ease. I think V7 is in final testing so should be here sonner rather than later.

Which features of the image are you struggling with in Actinic? I know it cannot do the 'Recently Viewed Items' list, but you can get your products laid out in the way you have shown without too much difficulty. Please see the attached template for some ideas about what to do for your products.

Your best bet is probably going to be to come on one of our design training courses - which will go through how to apply a new overall layout style to the design to achieve the yellow and burgundy branding.

Alternatively, get hold of the 'Designing with Actinic Developer' guide (link in my signature) for an overview of designing with Actinic.

I can't do the design for you - but we can hopefully get you moving in the right direction.

            Actinic Style

            Thanks Chris

            Thanks for that.

Re what I'm struggling with. Please see http://www.chancellorforms.co.uk/aca...ultation.html. This is really messy cuz still under development but gives an idea of where I'm up to. You can see from my earlier jpg this is miles away yet!

            Regards

Here's a few things to do that will get you closer.

              1) Back up the product layout template somewhere and change the theme to 'Clean Layouts | Layout06'. You will find that design easier to work with. If you have Dreamweaver you can open the overall layout (Act_Primary.html) template and add in your own graphics etc. into the cells.

              2) You need to edit your logo image graphic and remove the white border from it.

              3) The Advanced user guide will tell you how to create a drop-down list containing the sections in your store.

              Hope that helps.
