Complete site being uploaded and not just modified pages.

Hi - I have a client who provides me with a snapshot of their system to do design changes. After making a change, I upload the site, but it uploads every page of the site and not just those that I have modified.

When I return the site to the client and he uploads it, regardless of if any pages have been modified by him, again it uploads the complete site.

Why does it do this? Is there anything I can change to ensure that only modified pages are uploaded?

    Hi there,

Possibly a silly question, are you using the "Web, Update website" menu choice or "Web, Refresh website"? One sends the whole site, the other only changes.

Let me know and I'll try to help.

    Best wishes

        Is it because?

        Hi there,

I've had a look at the way my system works... a brief rundown is..

I use my own software to generate an import file for Actinic - it takes all products and creates the info necessary to update prices etc and also remove any obsolete products. I import this file into Actinic using the File, Import choice. This then generates my entire catalog again adding any new products, removing old and updating prices. This I then upload to my site. My upload I set running late at night when it's prob unlikely to be having an order placed (hopefully). As a result I never see what it is doing.

I did an upload...lo and behold... all pages! The reason, in my case, is that I have created my entire catatlog again, thus making new pages with todays date on them. When I upload it compares to the old, which have last week's date on them...therefore, whole catalog upload!

Is this possibly what is happening in your case? If your client generates new pages, could they be current date and therefore overwrite all?

        Best wishes
