    Meta tags and search engines

    Hello all,

I searched for my site on google today, using the full url and got this:

Artscraft Artscraft Store - Main heading

    Followed by,

"Home. Site Map. Terms & Conds. Search. View Basket. Checkout. Contact
Us. View Basket, Checkout, Art Supplies, Art Supplies. Stationery
    and ...
    www.artscraft.co.uk/ cgi-local/ss000001.pl?SECTIONID=index.html&NOLOGIN=1 - 12k -"

The only bits I want to see are Art Supplies, Stationery and other meaningfull descriptions, not all of the above though !

Can someone advise where and how I alter my meta tags for my listing ?

    Many thanks,

    Mick
    Kind regards,

    Michael

Google doesn't use the meta tags for this. It shows content on the page that's close to the terms searched for.

It often displays content around the last showing of the search term , so one way of controlling what appears is to have some clean content near the end for it to pick.

I wouldn't worry too much though, as what it display will vary by what is searched for and no-one is going to search using the url in real life.

      Thanks Mike,

I am nowhere to be seen if someone searches for my products but thats to be expected due to my low turnover.

I am dabbling with adwords and hope to gain sales through them.
