    purchasing digital documents

    Hi

we want to be able to sell documents in a pdf format so people can purchase online and then given a link as to where they can download the document from. Whats easiest way to do this?

would actinic be able to upload the documents or is it something we would have to do manually and tell the user where to download them from?

    thanks

You need to have the digital download option, and this is described at:

    http://www.actinicdownloads.com/docs...l_Download.pdf

I'm not sure whether the upload to the download directory is automated although it seems to imply that this is the case.

We may want to include some products that use this feature in future, so I would also be interested in finding out exactly how it works.

      thanks fo the reply.

this is just research at the moment for a customer, i have been having a look though on actinic on another customers license and i dont seem to have the extra tabs when i go into the properties.

it mentions in the pdf its about the license key, when we set up a new license for actinic, will i need to ask the people we get it off for a license that will support this?

      thanks

It is an add-on option that you have to pay extra for at present (£150+VAT), or you might want to take a look at

        http://www.actinicaudiostore.com/

You can also download 30 day free trial versions of the various products from the Actinic site:

If you're looking at the moment then you should really take a look at V7 which is in final beta testing now and should be released soon.

The business (and developer) versions of Actinic will include digital download in V7 at no extra charge.

any idea when 7 will be released and would it be a similar price as 6 is now?

the customer would like the shop as soon as possible but if its not going to be too much longer and is of a similar price, we may be able to persuade them to wait

If you buy V6 now you get V7 free once it's available.

How quickly it comes out is purely down to what (if any) problems come up during the final beta testing and how long it takes to fix them.

I'm sure if you talked to Actinic Sales they mighty throw in the digital download for you now as there's no point really in them making you wait for V7.

                ok

just to also point out, we will be using catalog not business or developer.

                is this feature still available/

                thanks

It's still available, you'll just have to pay the extra for the digital download option. For V6 it's a £150 option but I haven't seen the prices for V7 so you'll have to contact actinic sales for the details.
