    copying whole product sections

    Hi,

I've searched the forum & was sure this has come up many times, but I am male & therefore cant find a thing!

Anyhow, is there a method or possibly a utility that alows you to copy whole sections & the products within - these would be changed a little but would be essentially the same.

    Any pointers appreciated - thanks

Right click on section, select copy.
Right click on your catalog, select paste, give section new name.
    Bingo.

Thanks Mike but if I'm not wrong it makes the html address 'copy_of_existing product.html' - this doesnt look too good

That's just a default name until you give it the pagename you want.

just click advanced>layout and type in whatever you want.

            Hi

I'm trying to rename sections after copying and came across this thread which explains exactly what I want to do but I cannot find:

            advanced>layout.

Do you change the page.html name in Section Detail>Layout>Page Name , and eventually the html name will change? I stilll have a lot of pages with copy_of_copy-of etc

Not sure why right clicking doesn't bring up 'advanced' it must have changed somewhere along the line.

Yes, change the page.html name as you describe and it will be changed the next time you upload or refresh.

                Fantastic!

Just about to input 100's of products - this will save time.

I presume for linking Duplicate Products to Main products, this will also be the URL I can use in Duplicate Product Advanced Link, rather than find the Section name in that ever increasing drop down list!

                Thanks

                  No idea. eek!

This sounds like V7 functionality and I didn't find it worth upgrading. (V8 though is another matter and that upgrade is definitely a yes - IF I can work out how to use it).

You can link directly to the URL using the new page name ... you can append this to go straight to the product using pagename.html#aprodref

where "prodref" is the actual product reference .... it make use of the #a to go straight to named anchor Actinic creates against each product
