Paypal Problem With Cookies

We have made a site that uses paypal, everthing is setup but when a customer goes on to paypal page and puts there username and password in it says payment confirmation then when you click pay it says


You must log in before you access this page.

You cannot access PayPal because your browser does not currently support cookies. You must enable cookies with your browser before you can use the PayPal site. Please go to your browser's help files to learn how to enable cookies. After you have enabled cookies, you may have to refresh the page twice.

If you have already enabled cookies and are still unable to log in to the PayPal website, please email service@paypal.com.

Any ideas?

I don't think I can help you with this as you are totally outside of Actinic at this point. My only suggestion is to ask PayPal and see if they have any suggestions.

Ok Paypal says this is the solution but would have to be done by the user.

For Internet Explorer 6.0:

1. From the Tools menu, click 'Internet Options'

2. Click 'Privacy'

3. Make sure that the slider is set for Medium or just below

4. Click 'Edit' located near the bottom of the window

5. On the line provided type www.paypal.com and click 'Allow'

6. Click 'OK' to close the 'Internet Options' window

I don't know how you're doing it, but it sounds like the paypal login must be on your site?

I think the problem you're getting is that the standard IE setup will only allow cookies from the site that your browser is on. i.e. it blocks third party cookies by default.

Yes sounds correct but dont know how to do it any other way, there must be a way of putting the login on our own site, but dont have a clue, has anyone else done this?

Just checking - are you trying to view PayPal through a frame? This would cause cookies to be blocked by IE6.

no we are not using frame on the site at all, i dont know why but when you choose to pay via paypal, it is like it makes its own frame as the web address doesnt change. Check it out Chris its on our www.bestpriceink.co.uk site

Is there anyway to make it open in a new page?

I'm afraid you do have a frame. The address in the browser stays as 'http://www.bestpriceink.co.uk/' in the address bar because the 'index.html' page at that location is a frameset that contains a single frame and loads 'acatalog/index.html' into it. You need to stop this from happening to prevent PayPal from having it's cookies blocked.

To do this, go to 'Design | Options | Miscellaneous' and select 'No Frames In Checkout'. Then go to 'Advanced | Custom Properties' and create a new custom property called 'ACT_SELECT_FRAMES_OFF'. Then upload. This will remove your entire custom frameset when you move into the checkout.

Ok cool, i knew it would be something like this, could you tell me if i should enter anything in the box for 'No Frames in Checkout' that says 'URL for completed and aborted checkout', do i need to put the URL of the receipt page? and if so what is it?

It's not the URL of the receipt page, it's just the URL of your frameset. It's where people go when they leave the checkout.
