    Disallowing prompt change in Cart

    Hello,

I have a business catalog set up with a prompt for personalisation to be added to a product, like a delivery message.

I however do not wish to allow my customers to edit the message in any other location than the product page, especially not the cart page. Can this be done through the ACTINC interface or will I need to edit the ACT_ShoppingCartXML.html type templates to achieve my goal.

    Many Thanks

    Lee,

This is not 100% perfect and you may have already considered it, but if you use the 'Other Info' option under the PROMPTS tab in your product details window you can ask for the info on your product page.

Although this info CAN be amended when looking at your basket, it's fixed once you have entered the checkout phase.

We use it for our giftwrap section to add messages for gift cards at http://www.between.co.uk/acatalog/On...Service_1.html

This is the best solution I can think of as well.

Although you can access the HTML for the prompt on the product page in 'Design | Text | Goto 2161', the same field in the Shopping Cart must come from the Perl somehere.

It is not something that can be changed in Act_ShoppingCartXML.html as far as I can tell.

        Lee,

I had a similar problem with this, and decided that the customer was getting fed-up of seeing the cart order details on so many consecutive pages, so I simply removed the order details from the top of the invoice, shipping, and payment pages by deleting the 'NETQUOTEVAR::THEORDERDETAILS' from the top of every template.

Lets face it, as a customer, who on earth wants to see the order details on 5 consecutive pages? Not me! My opinion as a customer is: "I clicked 'Ok' on the checkout page, so don't batter me round the head with it...!"

        Have fun...

          Prompt change in cart?

          Hi Raps,

stupid of me but I'm new to all this coding stuff - where did you edit the templates please? ie, in the Ordering section of Template Manager? Did you just remove the single line 'NETQUOTEVAR::THEORDERDETAILS' or was there anything else that should be chopped as well? I hate all the hoops you have to go through, it gives customers far too many chances to change they're minds!

          Thanks

          Andy.
