    discount information

    Hi

love the new discount function, however

    theres always a but.

i have split my products into 2 groups

    group 1 discountable products
    group 2 non discountable products

and everything works fine now i have set up the bands however when i add a product that has discount to the basket it appear neatly underneath that stating what the discount is. but if i add another product to the basket it correctly recalculates the discount but does not move the info line to the bottom. So it sits in the middle of the products.

i have had a look at the order templates to see if i can move it but cannot find the line, i have also messed around with the various settings under the discount options

if you want to have a look at what i mean you can here casupply.co.uk

roof kits & entrances do not have discounts but polycarb & corrugated sheeting does, discount start at £100

    hope someone can help

    Cheers

    Hi Darren,

There was a lot of internal debate about this and the way it works at the moment is deliberate.

That's because it has to work in all cases, and if you have multiple discounts on different groups of products it could be very confusing to have them all together at the bottom of the page.

So we decided to place the discount with the group that the discount applied to.

I hope that I've got this totally right as I'm not the real expert and that this makes some sort of sense.

      Thanks for your reply

i completely understand what you guys have done, but is there know way of moving it, i did raise this issue when beta testing and im sure it will be raised again by someone else.

anyway i do not want it to be part of the totals box, just to be able to stick it at the bottom of the product list.

Order level discount would be the best way for me but i can only restict discounts to either "payment method" or "Customer Group" not
"Product Group" which would be ideal but this option is not avaliable so i have to use the cart contents discounting and assign the products into 2 groups, which brings me back to the problem

      Cheers

        Darren,

Chris has asked me to take a look on this issue. I did some investigation and found a simple way to implement this. I'm going to test the solution then we will make a decision if this is something to be included into the first maintenance release or not. If we can't slip this into the next release I'm going to publish a script customisation here with this option.

        Regards,

            Hi,

I got a solution now. See the attached file below. Just make a backup of ActinicOrder.pm in your site folder then replace by the file attached. Then define a new CUSTOMVAR (Advanced|Custom Proerties...) and name it as ACT_SHOW_ADJUSTMENTS_BOTTOM. The type should be Integer. When it is defined go to Design Options dialog's Site Defaults tab. Create a new row in the property grid (by pressing the + at top-left corner) and select the newly created CUSTOMVAR from the list. Set the value to 1, untick the Searchable and tick the 'Use as CUSTOMVAR' checkbox. Then upload your site and drop me a reply if this is what you wanted to see. :-)

BTW sorry for this "complicated" solution but probably this fix will be in a forthcoming maintenance release so I have to implement this "properly".
Please note that although I have tested this solution this is may not work in all cases. Therefore please use it on your own risk. This solution is not supported by Actinic while it is not in an official release.

                Hi Zoltan

when to V7.01 version is released will the new actinicorder.pm file still be compatable or has this option got into the maintenance release?

not a problem if it has not as im sure it will at some time? just need to make sure it will be ok to use

                Cheers

This option won't be in v7.0.1 so we'll need to sort you out with a new perl script. I'll email Zoltan now and ask about this.

It should, however, make it into 7.0.2.

                    Thanks Chris

I plan to swop my site over sometime over the next couple of weeks, the V7.01 beta is better than my V6.01. I cannot upgrade to V6.1.4 because i have customer scripts for discounting but this does cause a few problems, reports do not come out correct, i have to manually enter the adjustment in the order when recieved because its different to the one the customer got e.t.c.

anyway this new script for V7, does not effect the functionality but looks better & reduces confusion. So when ever it can be updated it would be much appreciated

                    Cheers

                      THis is from Zoltan:
Checking the release notes, there were no changes on the patched file in v7.0.1. Therefore the patch provided for v7.0.0 can still be used.
So there you go. You will still be able to use Zoltan's edited file in 7.0.1.

as soon as i get the final V7.01 i will upgrade and make the changes as required.

FYI I have added this patch to our source tree tonight. Therefore upgrading to v7.0.2 no changes will be required to keep your cart layout.

so do you mean this will be in V7.0.2 or that i can use the patch with V7.0.2. if it is in V7.0.2 then the data entry report needs changing as per my other post, or will the new setup mean the data entry report does not need changing

                            Cheers

This will be included so you do not need any change after the upgrade to keep it working.
