    Script Error, please help!

    http://www.glassblockoutlet.co.uk/acatalog/

Just started to get a script error today, haven't changed a thing on the shop, was working fine yesterday so rekon it might be my hosting company has changed something, the error message I get when I try to add items to my basket is:

    A General Script Error Occurred

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Error: Phrases not read yet (-1,21) {../acatalog/193Z110Z243Z3A1086778280B10675.session, Permission denied}.
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Press the Browser back button and try again or contact the site owner.

Has anyone had the same problem or know how to fix it?

    Thanks

It sounds like it might be a corrupted session file.

    Try help>troubleshooting>purge session files.

This will clear all session files, including active ones so any online customers will lose the contents of their cart.

thanks for your quick reply, but it hasn't changed anything.

I have just had a look at my error.err and noticed that all these errors orrured under HTTP Server = Apache/1.3.31

The previous HTTP Server was Apache/1.3.29, this may have been upgraded, would this cause problems that anyone knows of?

      Thanks again.

Server upgrades are always a risk, but who knows if that caused this problem. I'm guessing that the permissions of the acatalog directory have changed or the scripts are now running in a different user. Actinic cannot seem to read the files in acatalog (including prompt.fil). You may have to delete everything and start fresh on the server (ouch).

As the errors all refer to 'permission denied' I'd hazard a wild guess that it may be permissions related.

See this recent thread for some details on permission settings. It's probably worth checking them out as your host might have changed something.

permissions it was, acatalog dir had mysteriously been set to 755, I changed it back to 777 and all is well. Might try and blag a free years hosting for a days loss of earnings because of unannounced server upgrades, what do you think? No, me neither.

            back to selling glass blocks!

Thanks again for all your help.
