    epos and actinic

Does anyone use epos? Now I am not sure if there are many versions of software called Epos, however we use epos specifically for a Computer Games shop. It has an access database that has an up to the minute list of everything we have in stock. We sell games across all platforms with a list of over 1000 different games.

the company we buy our software off of are www.completeepos.com.

What I am wondering is how hard would it be to make a query from the epos database to dump all of our items in to the actinic database so we can then update Actinic site every morning and it would be up to date with stock levels. I know we can manually put the stock levels in to Actinic it's hard to maintain because not everything is sold via the site as we have 3 shops. Currently we just move so many items at a time over to Buy Me That Now stock.

However because of the sheer amount of games we do not sell them online as its far too much updating.

So what I was thinking is we could present our games in a list without info or extended info .. no images .. just text .. taking game names, price, product code etc from the EPOS database and dropping it in to actinic ..

My knowledge of Access is rusty but saying this I pick up most things pretty fast .. Could I do this easily? Or would it be a bit more for the hardcore access user ? Any feedback would be good or info from anyone else who has done a similar thing ..

I would only want the games to go in to certain catogories and the database would already have items in it ..

Yes, I'm pretty sure it can be done.

I think Normal Rouxel has done this before so he'd be a good starting point for you.

      Hi,

Yes I've done a full scale EPOS to Actinic link but it's an industrial strength solution that complely rebuilds the Actinic data each day from the retailers EPOS system (Top to Toe - much used in Fashion, Sports and Footwear sectors). This is for retailers who want to show their existing stock (or a subset) on-line without ever touching the product tree in Actinic. Actinic is just used to Import / Replace the newly generated data, Upload the site and Download Orders. There's over 12,000 lines of Delphi code in there.

My method generates an Hierarchical Import file file that contains the all products, attributes, choices, etc. It leaves the Brochure pages unaltered, allowing the shop owner to maintain the front pages themselves.

You want to maintain some products within Actinic and do a daily update via an import of only a subset of your catalogue. That's not a method I'm familiar with (I replace the lot daily) so I'm not sure if I can help much there.
