    Standalone. cgi-bin Access denied?

Installed the Standalone with Apache2 as in AUG on Laptop (Win XP pro) and it had worked perfectly for 2 months. Could upload and Browse website with no problems. However it stopped working last week. A clean install of Warftp, Apache2 and Perl did not cure the problem.

A 1st install on a desktop PC (Win 2000pro) is giving the same problem. I have not changed network settings or file permissions. The only change on the computer that I can think of, was to download the latest security patches for the OS.

When I test the network settings I get the error message
"Unable to move to the cgi-bin directory "/cgi-bin/" on the FTP server. The specified directory does not exist or you do not have access to the directory." It does exist and permissions are set as in AUG.

My first install went faultlessly so why have I now run into this problem? Any help would be much appreciated.

    Dave.

Have you run the setup wizard.

The wizard is accessed via 'Web | Configure Web Site Details' and should give you more meaningful error messages about what is happening.

Gary & Chris, thanks for your help.

I have found the answer, even if I don't understand why the problem occured. So will post in case it can help anyone else.

My previous standalone setup, had the latest Apahe2 and Perl downloads and Warftp 1.8 RC4. It was working fine on first install then after 6weeks it stopped functioning. I don't know why.

I reinsatlled Apache, Perl and WarFtp 1.82 RC7, and did same on another PC.....still no luck, and hence my first post to the community. It seemed to not allow access to my cgi-bin or not recognise username or password! I was going round in circles all week with this.

The answer was to Uninstall Warftp 1.82 and install Warftp1.65,exe; set up as in AUG...................... and within minutes I had a standalone system and can Browse website on localhost. Was sweating with that........

        Cheers
        Dave
