Run V6 and V7

I have a site in V6 using order manager (built in developer) I want to keep this site as is.

Can I run V7 on the same machine, and if so do I use my V6 authentication key on install as I have the upgrade protection.

I'm sure I've been told this but I'm about to install and want to make sure.

You can run multiple differing major versions of the software on the same machine, i.e. v4,5,6,7 etc.

You will need a v7 authorisation key for the v7 software though, so assuming you have Actinic Cover for your current v6 software then you can get the v7 key... However............. Cover is not designed to provide you with an additional site, i.e. you have v6 running, you get an upgrade to v7 and then launch a new site with v7, whilst the v6 carries on operationally (nope)..

Cover provides upgrade paths for the inuse version and not additional usages....

So the site on V6 would need to stay with the V6 Order Manager or pay to upgrade.

Any sites built with V7 would need V7 Order Manager, Business etc to be purchased.

V6 Order Manager or any Order Manager v5,6,7 does not have a Cover package with it, apart from if you purchased v6 Order Manager from about 14th April to 1st June, inwhich case you get a free upgrade to v7 (but if you get the upgrade - thats what it is an upgrade and as such you can only use one and not sell the other on etc)....

If you are developing sites in Developer v6 and still maintaining those sites, then obviously you get an upgrade under your Cover for Developer package to v7 and 'you' can still maintain those v6 sites and develop new sites under v7.
