    Site Update Error Message

I'm getting two errors when trying to update my website with the new V7.

I've installed it as a new installation because I didn't have much on the old V6 site.

    The Network Test passes successfuly!

    UPDATE ERROR MESSAGE 1

"An error occurred while writing to "acatalog" on the web site. The problem is probably due to permissions problems, but could be due to low disk space. Actinic can not work with these settings. Press Cancel if you would like to manually examine the permissions and disk space on the web site. Press Retry if you would like Actinic to attempt to change the permissions on the directory for you."

    UPDATE ERROR MESSAGE 2

The attempt to change the directory permissions did not remedy the problem. Please examine the acatalog directoory manually before continuing...

I have contacted my ISP Newnet and they can't find anything wrong.

I can access my website using Dreamweaver & FTP.

    Any Ideas??????????

    Regards,

    Mike

Also, at what point is the upload failing? Is it when it is 'Uploading Base Files' or 'Uploading Catalog Files' or is it when it is 'Merging'?

It is worth trying a 'Web | Refresh' to see if you have any more luck with the upload.

Are you using a UNIX or a Windows server?

If it UNIX then you can log on via FTP and use a command called 'CHMOD' (check your FTP application's Help docs) to set the permissions of the 'acatalog' folder to '777' and then try the upload/refresh again.

      Hi Chris,

Update or site refresh produces identical messages at same locations in the update.

The first error message is when it's running "Checking search indices"

The second message is when you press retry.

      I'm on a Windows Server.

My suggestion is to try putting the site into 'Test Mode' ('Web | Switch to Test Mode') and see if the issue is that Actinic cannot overwrite the v6 files. This will upload the v7 store to a folder called 'test' within the v6 'acatalog' folder.

If that fails, I suggest registering an email support request at http://www.actinic.co.uk/support/register.htm and the team can try your settings for themselves.
