    External linking

Matt, sorry but three people have tried to reproduce this and it works ok here

Can you give any more details on how to reproduce this issue please ? Perhaps a series of actions which cause the problem. Do you drag and drop the external products into the tree ? Use multiple select and drag many products at once ? Edit the dragged externally linked products ? ect.

I've juts had a similar message myself - I've been re-rranging a site, creating new sections and dragging products here and there - after a couple of hours I got a 'cannot open any more tables' message.

Re: Memory leakage . . . I am creating a section composed entirely of duplicate products. In all some 400+ duplicates -- I am using ctrl c and right click on section and pasting as duplicates.

After about an hour of this I received "OUT OF MEMORY" message. Closing the program and re-opening cleared it! When I carried on there was a truly significant speed improvement . . . I clearly hadn't noticed a gradual decrease in speed as I did each copy.

In my humble experience, it only happens when you have been moving, copying stuff etc. for hours. V7 crashes, you start it again and carry on until it does it again.

              Hi

I had simalar problems to those that you have encountered-I'm running ME and have loads of system resources yet it became so bad that my machine would lock after only 3-4 product changes!

I ran MDAC-typ.exe on the installation disk, and though I have yet to test it thouroughly, it would appear that the problem has been solved.

              I hope this helps

                Good news.

We've managed to create a reproducible series of steps and have discovered where the problem appears to lie.

The fix will be in v7.0.2 which we hope to have out around the end of September. Hopefully there isn't another problem lurking underneath, and that will do the trick.

                    Similar Problems

                    Hi

I was doing a lot of work this weekend and had Actinic Catalog crash on me several times (Windows XP SP1)

I got the "Object invalid or no longer set"
                    error message amongst others

I was adding new components to a lot of my items which linked to another item which is being given free but as I worked the system slowed down and the threw the error and vanished

I could reopen and carry on but the errors have me worried about the integrity of my data - will I lose it????? We cannot afford that to happed

                    Please can you advise

                    Thanks
                    Jane

We haven't seen any evidence or had any reports that data integrity is affected by this problem.

Please accept my apologies to everyone that is having this problem. We spent a lot of time on testing - but this one slipped through.
