    6.1.4 > 7.0.1 + Coupon

    Hello All,

Been on the phone to tech/sales this morning so my upgrade to version 7 should be in the post.

My first question, are there many template changes ?
Or can I continue using the template files I already use.

I ask because I have changed just about every template file within actinic, and don't fancy doing it all again.

I'm presuming the upgrade is fairly straight forward, fingers crossed anyway.

My other question is regarding coupons. It looks like, after reading round, actinic have introduced a discount coupon system ? Is this correct ?

Looking forward to having a fiddle next week.

    Thanks,

    Hello Philly,

My first question, are there many template changes ?
All the new template changes are listed in the V7 released notes when you install the software.

You could continue using your original V6 templates but a lot on the new V7 features, e.g. coupons will not be available and other problems may arise.

Like you say I recommend you install the software and have a fiddle. If you do get any upgrade problems let us know and I'm sure we can help you out.

    I hope this helps.
    Regards,

    Toby Blanchard

I have been playing around with the V7 and plan to switch over this week, nearly all my template changes went without a hitch but i did mine a specific way.

Install V7 (do not upgrade V6)
from you V6 export your theme & colour schemes
          import these into V7

          actinic should then upgrade these

then import you site snap shot from V6 to V7

then you will use the same theme, anything you find that did not work will have to be changed manually, with me it seems to be a few minor details that can be fixed quickly

the biggest thing you have to remember is the discounts & coupons have made some changes to how the site works in the back ground, so script changes could be you biggest problem

          hope this helps
          Darren

            Cheers Darren,

This sounds like a sensible way to go about it.

I'm really not looking forward to this at all, I changed every template coming up to a year ago now, so have no record of what I have changed.

I'm sure it will be fun, looking forward to a stressful week.

I have got to do this all again this week though, the last time was for testing purposes only.

And i want to switch all the orders over aswell, so i have to take the site down, suspend online ordering, then import into V7, and set up all the discount bands and product groups then upload and hope it go's through

so we are both infor a stressfull week

              Cheers
              Darren
