    Unstable . . . bug

We have set a test page with two links (testing for our AllAffiliate Pro software). The file can be found at either www.mandrake-press.com/test/test.html or www.paranormaldiscussion.com/test/test.html

    [www.mandrakepress.com is a 'test site' . . . www.mandrake-press.com is a 'live site']

We have four test machines and we are getting inconsistent results / errors as follows

    Machine 1 Win XP IE6

    The first link works fine

The second link (to a deleted product) works the first time . . . goes to a Product Not found page and then

    a) if link 1 was used first it forwards to the top of the page previous Actinic page visited!

    b) if link 2 is used first then it forwards to .../acatalog/index.html (see machine 2 where forwarding is different)

BUT using the browser back button to go back to the test page and then trying the second link again puts Actinic into a loop

    --------------------------------------------------------------
The specified product reference (P569-X) couldn't be found.
Please wait for your browser to forward you to the next page or click here.
    -------------------------------------------------------------

Using the back button to go back top the test page, using the first link, use the back button, use the second link . . . and it works OK. However, use the back button use the second link again and Actinic goes into its loop again!

The Second Machine is more bizarre

    Machine 2 Win XP IE6

Using link 1 gets a 404 error because after the search in Actinic it puts browser to a mal-formed URL i.e. the first half being the referring site and the second half being the product code/location i.e. www.paranormaldiscussion.com/test/afterlife.html#aL008_2d7. Actinic should generate the correct URL which would be http://www.mandrakepress.com/acatalo...html#aL008_2d7

Using link 2 . . . Actinic does the search, displays page stating product not found and then bounces back to test page. [Note Machine 1 is forwarded to the top of the page where the product was originally]

Link 2 is bounced back to the test page irrespective of whether Link 1 is used first or not!

    Machine 3 Win XP IE6 [identical to Machine 2 . . . but behaves as machine 1]

Machine 4 Win XP (tablet) IE6 [behaves as machine 1]

    ========================================================

I would be grateful if anyone could test these links and see if they can generate similar errors . . . we have tried clearing all cookies, temp files, etc. with cold boot of machines and the results are repeatable!

At this stage we are 'lost' . . . is this an IE bug, Actinic-Business, or something to do with AllAffiliate Pro URL masking???

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Under Machine 2 I wrote "Using link 2 . . . Actinic does the search, displays page stating product not found and then bounces back to test page. [Note Machine 1 is forwarded to the top of the page where the product was originally]" . . . that is wrong . . . see Machine 1 results for correct details

      Hello everyone,

If anyone has got a couple of minutes spare to test the above links so we can see if the same problem can be replicated, we'd really appreciate the help.

If you are linking to an Actinic product via the Actinic search script, but the page you are linking from is outside the 'acatalog' folder, then you need to include

        &ACTINIC_REFERRER=http://www.mandrakepress.com/acatalog/

onto the end of the URL.

This tells the Actinic search script where the pages containing the products are.
