    smtp error in error.err

    I have upgraded a customer to V7 from V6 following a move to a new server which uses qmail; customers were not getting an email confirming their order on the new server. Originally we were getting messages that implied that SMTP authentication was required, which V7 provides. Now we get the following error:

    Program = ORDERSCR, Program version = 478 , HTTP Server = Apache/2.0.46 (Red Hat) , Return code = 999 , Date and Time = 2004/07/20 10:08, Internal Errors = Error returned from SMTP server (8: unimplemented (#5.5.1)
    )

    Any ideas what this means?

    Authenticated SMTP which is what v7 now provides needs the hosting platform or the email portion of that provision to operate with a mailserver address and username and password.

    When you send normal emails out from an email client for this domain, does your email settings have the option "My Server Requires Authentication" enabled?

    If not, then you are not on an Authentication SMTP service, but have you tried using "localhost" without the quotes within the smtp server address and no username and password enabled option?
