    Secure URL to non-secure catalog?

    Hi,

OK, now I'm a tad lost here. I am setting up an online shop but what to have just the payment part on SSL (so that the pages of the main shop load faster). My current ISP can't do this as I have heard from an email from Actininc support that the secure and non-secure space need to be on the same physical server.

OK, so I have now registered a new domian with another ISP (linked to from my main site) and have both secure and non-secure space on the same server.

My problem now is that I need to have (according to Actinic Support) a secure URL (https) to the non-secure catalog folder. My new ISP tell me that this isn't possible and so I need your help!

Here is the structure of our new site with shared SSL:

D:. (showing two folders - ssl and wwwroot)
    - ssl
    (folder - cgi-bin)

    - wwwroot
    (folder - acatalog)
    (folder - cgi-bin)
    (folder - images)

The non-secure catalog folder will go in wwwroot (as will the non-secure cgi-bin) and I will put a cgi-bin in the ssl folder too.

The only secure url I have is this:

    https://secure.something.net/mywb

where mywb is a virtual directory which points to the ssl folder in the structure shown above. This means that I can't get back from that to the wwwroot folder and therefore to the non-secure catalog folder.

I have asked my new ISP if they could set up another https url such as:

    https://secure.something.net/mywb2

where mywb2 is a virtual directory which points to the wwwroot folder.

Does this sound unreasonable / impossible? They don't seem to be wanting to play ball.

Have I missed something here? Is there any other way of doing it like this? Please help!

I think I have all the other bits of the Advanced Network Setup sorted but just need this bit.

    All help gratefully received

    Andy

    Hi Andy

As far as I know, this is how you set up shared SSL to work with Actinic

    1. Click on "Configure Method" for Payment Method"Credit card details captured for later use" in View|Business settings|Payment and Security

    2. Select "Shared SSL" under the heading "Capture Method"

    3. Depending on whether your Shared SSL provider is listed or unlisted click on Installed Providers or Unlisted Provider Tab(If "Test Mode" is ticked you may have to untick it)

4 Enter in details as required.

The network settings in Advanced|Network Setup will be the regular settings as provided by your ISP.

Please try this and see if it works.
