Developer Subscription Vs. Cover for Developer

I'm confused... On the Actinic site there is mention of the Actinic Developer Subscription http://www.actinic.co.uk/products/developer_sub.htm at £250+VAT p.a. and there is also Actinic Cover for Developer http://www.actinic.co.uk/products/cover.htm at £250+VAT for the first year then £450+VAT p.a. after.

Both of these products seem to offer the same thing, just one gets more expensive after the first year. Can someone please clarify what the difference is and why someone should chose one over the other.

If you are a web developer by trade, then you go for the Developer subscription, but if you are a site operator wanting to run more than one site, then you go for Cover for Developer...

I think that this is correct.

but that still doesn't explain the difference between the two?

          Hi

Essentially there is no difference between the services that are offered in either the Developer Subscription or Developer Cover. Developer Cover is for a merchant that buys Developer to build multiple sites for themselves. Developer Subscription is for web designers.

The Cover for Developer is £425 per year and represents an estimated cost per year to support two or more sites. This is the product that is for the merchants.

Developer subscription is £250 per year and does not represent the costs associated with supporting a web designer with multiple sites. Our pricing model is to recoup the cost of support through the additional licences of Catalog, Business or Order Manager that the web designer buys from us to fulfil the demands by there clients. We also assume that a web designer has a higher degree of technical knowledge and therefore requires less support.

So if you are unsure as to which product applies to you then ask yourself this question: After buying Developer, am I going to be purchasing additional licences for clients?

If the answer is yes then Developer Subscription

If the answer is no then Developer Cover

I hope this helps to clarify the differences between the two, any questions, please let me know.
