Speed Issues with our new site

    Hello

We have just uploaded V6 and a brand new site, since we have been getting quite a few comments on speed. It seems the site is very slow when accessed by normal dial up which is very concerning. The front page loads
quickly but as soon as you go beyond this point or search for a product
the site just hangs. Claranet host the site and are also looking into this issue at their end too.

Can we ask a favour of those in the community to take a look and
comment on the speed perhaps even reasons for the speed problems...

    our site is http://www.boardridersguide.co.uk

Thankyou for your help in advance

    James

I think others in the community have also suffered with Claranet.

Hmm - you're right - home page is pk, but l-o-n-g wait on 50.6kb dial up.

But - once that is over, the rest loads kindof OK.

I wonder whether there's a setting that is inadvertently downloading a lot of images to the PC's cache (which might explain the delay, and subsequent picl up in speed?)

I think its to do with Claranet not giving much system resources to the scripts

            .pl scripts

i have been running some tests and the lag occours mainly when using a pearl scripted link eg when the site references 000000.pl files while clicking on a link (i dont know much about this hope you understand that)

is there any way to speed this up or stop using the .pl files and just have normal links for the broucher fragments?

A different host would be a good start. Check out other threads and see if anyone has overcome this
