    Giveaway with options

I have trawled the fora (?) for the answer to this one but can't find anything quite like it so apologies if it answered elsewhere.

For certain product types (I understand how to group products in groups), my client wants to give away a certain other, low cost product.

    1. I couldn't quite see how to do this in the Discounts screen which I found a bit confusing - almost like an upsell but it's given away - note, we know the value so we could just do a discount amount against a product group I guess

    2. Assuming this can be done, the giveaway product has several choices as to its size - how can we get the customer to select the right one ?

The site is now live if anyone wants to comment on it or give tips & assistance at www.saddles4u.com

One thing I haven't been able to solve on it is that some of the products are made from components - for these the product reference doesn't appear in the checkout - any ideas on this one ?

While I'm on, can I also confirm that the coupon code is a general one for a marketing campaign - I'd like one per customer & a refer-a-friend so I can do viral marketing - does anyone know of a way or a plug in to do this perhaps ?

Many thanks in advance for any & all help

    Hi there.

    You could try this:

    1. Set up your group of products, please note that this group cannot contain the 'Free Giveway product.

    2. Set up a Discount for your group of product based upon 'Quantity' with the 'Trigger' set to 1.

    3. Set up a reward that is '% off other product', choose your 'Giveaway' product and set the 'Reward Amount' to 100%.

    4. You can set up the text in 'Presentation' tab. This will appear under each product that you need to buy to get the 'Giveaway'.

In store, when the customer buys a product that gets the reward, they will be shown a message in cart. If they click this message, they will be taken to the product and can choose the right size from there.

In regards to coupons, you could create discounts with different names, each with a different coupon number.

In regards to the reference number, could you put the ref number in the name of the choice?

    I hope this helps.
