Flash Navigation For Logged In Customers

I had to modify my simple flash navigation so that it would work either way when a customer is logged in or not.

Rather than having:-

I edited the link whilst referring to Page 48 of the Actinic Advanced User Guide under - 'Taking People Straight To A Section'. The link given there was:-

This should enable a customer regardless if they have logged in or not to navigate to that page. If they are not logged in, they are still navigated to the page and remain not logged in. But if they are logged in and click on the link - it still remembers that they are logged in and continues thier shop.

However the link is not working correctly. I have tried different variations but I get errors such as unknown Cookie errors and cannot find page.

Hi Paul,

The url that errors is http://www.ink4trade.co.uk/cgi-bin/a...artridges.html. This is a similar problem I had with our aromatherapy site (re:your email), however I'm afraid the bad news is no-one was able to provide a solution, not even the Actinic techy team.

It only affected the includes files within our brochure pages after login, and to get round the problem I had to create a spoof cgi-bin/acatalog/ folder and put a copy of the js and css files in there. That did the trick for our site, although its the worst kind of bodge.

It was suggested that it could be something to do with the Network Settings, or hosting on a Win 2003 server. Sorry I can't help more

Another Idea?

What If I could create two flash navigaitons. One for non-members and one for members.

- At one instance before anyone logs in - the non-members flash nav will appear and the members one will be hidden

- Then at the other instance - when a user logs in - the members version will appear and the non-members will be hidden.

Then each version of the Flash navigation will have the correct navigation. Simple for the non-members version and the 'cgi script ss000001' etc will be used for the members version.

If this could be done - this could be a quick solution to this problem.

The link going via the search ss000001,pl script (described in this thread) will work for both logged-in and non-logged in customers so that is the best one to use.
