    Confirmation Email Template

    Hi,

    when sending out an item, an email is also sent with tracking number, our addresses, etc. Previously using actinic v.5 this worked correctly, but now various things such as our address at the bottom is incorrectly displayed. It is all on one line, thus for each email we have to manually insert line breaks to get it properly spaced. When i looked at and tried to modify the template, inserting line breaks either just as a carriage return or using html it makes no difference.

    The other issue with the emails is that the information about which products are being dispatched shows them products still to be shipped, which is clearly wrong since this email is to confirm they are being shipped.

    Any help would be greatfully recieved, is slightly maddening to have to do it all manually each time.

      Thank you so much, that sorted the first issue, but not quite how i expected. realised none of the templates were saved as .txt, changed it to that and now they work perfectly. thank you for confering about the second issue, will look forward to your answer.

        Hi

        Just for clarification, in V7, there is a drop-down list in the Mail tab of the Order details window to select the template for the mail to be sent out to the customer (for e.g., Order Received, Payment Received, etc).

        Could you check which template is selected as default to be sent to the customers ?

          Is a slightly modified version of one of the default templates, the only modification being adding a piece of text saying "tracking number:" and we then input the tracking number. other than that, is a copy of "Order Shipped". Is it a problem to do this?

                  There could be two scenarios here :

                  1. To check if the correct template is selected from the Template drop-down list in the Mail window

                  2. After you edited the template to reflect the extra words, did you save it as Order Received or Order Shipped

                  (Just trying to narrow down the possibilities !!!)

                    The order shipped has been edited, but since there are several different ways things can be shipped, none of them are saved as simply "order shipped", the are "order shipped parcelforce under £100" for instance. are you suggesting you can only have one template for recieved and one for shipped? will double check to make sure that the template that was used initally for editing was the shipped one, but surely that shouldn't make a difference should it?

                      *bump* sorry to keep bumping this one but is taking quite a while at the end of each day to manually go through each email removing the offending lines.

                        Sorry about the delay Daniel

                        It does matter in which template type you saved the changes, (i.e., order shipped or order received), as it is only the first line of the e-mail after the salutation which is static text. The other texts are dynamically generated. That could possibly be causing the problem.
                        Could you verify if this is the case ?

                          the person who edited the template originally in unsure if it was the order recieved or shippped template originally, but am still a little unclear how actinic can tell the difference if the tags are the same.

                          which is odd because it doesn't include several of the options that a present on the menu including act_ordershipped.txt which obviously is there.

                            OK - so the problem is that the email is being sent out to the customers with the products marked as 'Not Yet Shipped'.

                            When you click the 'Mail' button in the 'Line Items' tab, Actinic is designed to default to using the template 'Act_OrderShipEmail.txt'. That template is no longer available to Actinic - but I don't think that will be the problem because, as you rightly point out, the shopping cart info is added in by the application. On my copy of v7 I can change the tempalte used, and the cart info stays the same.

                            Sorry to go over the obvious, but have you actually marked the items in the 'Line Items' tab as shipped when you send the email?

                              Thank you for that. The question turned out to in fact not be an obvious one, because in fact, due to the way orders are processed, the items indeed did not get marked as shipped until after the email was sent out. thank you for all your help.
