Help required with referrer links in web statisitics

Hi - just doing a bit of work reviewing site statistics on an actinic site www.cyan-teak-furniture.com.

When I look at the referrer section in the stats the main referrer to the site is the site itself e.g. http:// www.cyan-teak-furniture.com

When I view the top 20 referring URL's they are all pages within the site itself e.g. http:// http://www.cyan-teak-furniture.com/a.../parasols.html.

Is this normal with an Actinic site or is it something that I have done wrong?
    Regards
    David

    Hi David

I can't tell you off-hand if the referrer script is working as designed or there is something wrong with what you have done. So, please attach the the file that contains the referrer scritp so that I can have a look at it and get back to you.

    Cheers

Hi Kiran - is this the statistics logfile, one of the html pages or the perl referrrer script?

I am not using the perl referrer script at the moment becuase the site is hosted with Claranet, and the response times when running scripts are unbelievably awful.

I think Kiran was referring to the referrer script supplied with Actinic, but it is clear you are not using that.

I don't know a great deal about stats packages, but I do know that during an Actinic shopping session, customers will be linking to lots of different pages in the site, and be going back and forth to scripts in the cgi-bin, so I imagine the thing you are finding in your results is normal with an Actinic site.

This is normal behaviour as once a customer arrives you expect them to click around your site a few times.

Most decent stats packages will allow you to separate out internal and external referrers. If you don't have that facility then it'll be tough to see where your traffic's coming from.
