enter shop is not working through aol browser

i recently had to change the ip address of my web server, which required changes to dns etc.

i don't know whether it is a coincidence but the "enter shop" link i use to go from the brochure pages to the catalog no longer works on aol.

i have tried from the same machine using internet explorer & it works fine

the web site is www.gardenfurniturecentre.co.uk, click on "enter shop", with aol this just times out.

are they any more aol users out there who can test this for me

It seems that the DNS is pointing to different IP addresses, i.e.,

www.gardenfurniturecentre.co.uk. 1H IN A 195.44.197.109
www.gardenfurniturecentre.co.uk. 1H IN A 194.159.178.69

You will need to remove the incorrect IP address and allow 24 hours for the DNS change to be effected. That should solve the problem.

194.159.178.69 was the new address

i did diagnose that the dns change had not worked just before i went away
i instructed my isp to change it again, a week ago

this he had done

when i use ping command in my machine & my clients machine
i get a reply from
194.159.178.69

which is correct

when i test site in internet explorer (ie) the site works fine
but through aol really slow

are u having the same results through aol ?

does aol use a different dns server ?

Hi John

The DNS query still returns two IP addresses :
http://194.159.178.69/ is the one that returns the correct home page, while the other is timing out. It might be a possibility that the two different addresses might be conflicting, resulting in the two browsers trying them alternately and giving inconsistent results.

There are separate utilities available for this, for e.g. ITrace which used to be packaged free with WS-FTPpro or a utility called Dig on UNIX. I do not think there is a standard utility that comes with Windows.
