Problem with Checkout Error Messages

Hi

I have a slight problem. For the error messages on the order form I don't want them to be in a table, so I removed the table and replaced it with a <div>. My problem is that this has worked fine but now I don't get an error messages at all.

Does anybody know why? Do I need to have this in a table.
