Credit card start date

I've uploaded my website and have begun testing. The credit card start date field is not a mandatory field for all credit card types yet if it is not entered an error message is displayed?

Does anybody know why this is occurring and how to put it right?

Go into View | Business Settings | Payment and Security tab and then for the credit card payment option, click on Configure Method.

You will then be provided with your cards and a checkbox to make Start Date required or not by enabling or not the checkbox...

If you are not taking the card details at your site, i.e. you are taking payments via an OCCP like worldpay, then this wont work, but presume you are taking receipt of the card details directly.
