Creating a direct email link
Hi, I am new to this and probably a bit thick! On the contact Us page, I am trying to add a button that says contact us - and automatically opens the customers "new email" page to send me emails? Can this be done and how....please?

As in they click on it and it takes them to their email client, not a seperate page? cos if so, you need the link to be <a href="mailto:youemailadress>Contact us</a>
this said, not a fan at all of that method, i find people expect to be taken to a page when clicking on a contact us link.

If it re- directs to another page on the website I will then have to link that page so it is sent to my email client?!!!Comment

yup, so the page would have a link on it, but what i means is you can have a page with postal address, phone numbers, etc, and make clear it's an email address. on the other hand if you are making a link and clearly showing that it's an email address (e.g. by having the text of the link as the email address) then can see no problem with that. good example is the site i am working on, where http://www.wheesh.com/acatalog/contactus.html is reached by clicking on "contact us" on the main page, where is if you look at this page: http://www.wheesh.com/acatalog/trolley.html you can see there are several links who's text is "email" and which are just mailto links.Comment
