Multiple sites, subsections of products

I've been asked to look at producing several sites all using the same product set but each site would omit some ranges of products. The sites also have to look different too.

Can this be done with Developer? If so, can all the orders be managed through Developer or would separate order processing bits be needed?

You can use developer to help with this task. The way forward would be to create a single site with everything in it and then export the catalog to file, this file can be used to create the other sites by importing them and deleting the unwanted sections.

Now that you have your sites set up you need to keep them in line with each other, you can do this by using an external database to update the products and linking it into Actinic using the external linking options. You can create the database from your original actinic database and write a simple form to update it or even put it into Excel and update it there, then Actinic will automatically update all of the databases).

Each site would work alone, orders would be in a separate site database and you would need to change from site to site to download and process orders.
