Shop button giving "page not found" error when linking from sister web site

Hope that someone can help.


I have 2 websites with separate domain names and separate directories sitting in the same web space.

Site 1 uses Actinic version 6.1.4... and has worked perfectly for several months.

Site 2 Is a non Actinic site, still under development but working perfectly.

I have a link on the home page of the non Actinic site, which sends the visitor to the Home (brochure) page of site 1. But, if you then click on the shop button the page address gets mixed and the server returns a page not found error. This in theory should not happen as the two sites sit in different directories and have different domains.

The address on the shop button is..

http://bigbrownbox.co.uk/CGI-Bin/ss0...html&NOLOGIN=1

Can I simply change the address of this button to..

http://bigbrownbox.co.uk/shop.html

Or does anyone have any ideas (other than move site 2 to a different server)


The site addresses are.
www.move-home.co.uk (Non Actinic site)

www.bigbrownbox.co.uk (Actinic site)

The link is the small animated gif on the top right of site 2 home page.

I think if you want to use this method, you will have to add the ACTINIC_REFERRER variable e.g.

http://bigbrownbox.co.uk/CGI-Bin/ss0...alog/shop.html

Hmm! reading this again you can't see the URL, it should have: -

&ACTINIC_REFERRER=http://bigbrownbox.co.uk/acatalog/shop.html

at the end of it.

In truth this is by far the easiest way, although it might cause problems if you have registered customers.

As your customers will be coming from a non-actinic site (and you don't seem to be using Business) it probably won't hurt if you use this method and it'll be quicker too.

However the URL should be http://bigbrownbox.co.uk/acatalog/shop.html if you want to take them right into your catalog.
