HELP with Components, Attributes & Shipping problem !

Hi

I've got several products which have different sizes, weights, prices and stock levels. I have therefore made a Component, Attribute and then 4 choices for the different sizes (10ml, 30ml, 50ml & 100ml). I have then created hidden products for the 30ml, 50ml & 100ml to keep the stock monitoring going and entered correct weights accordingly and have left the main product as the 10ml option which shows sum of component prices. In the component I have filled the permutations and shown the appropriate associated products. All seems well and all looks good on invoice, however, I've noticed that all the products with components have double the component weight added in the shipping calculations.

ie If someone orders a 30ml item at 0.1kg the weight is calculated at 0.2, and so on for each item ordered.

I hope I've been clear on this and hope someone can tell me if I'm doing something wrong

Check that this is not 'Sum of Products and Components Prices', as if it is, it will add the master product on as well.

No, it's definitely 'Sum of Components Prices' and no order line for main product is ticked as well.....

There is a field called Optimal packing weight on the shipping and handling tab, it you have something in here then Actinic will split your order up into packages of that size and charge shipping for each package.

Failing that, how many components do you have for the product? Are the components linked to a hidden product?

Thanks for the reply, the optimal field is empty. I have one component to each product with one attribute and four choices. The components permutations are filled with all 4 choices and they are linked to the relevant product. The 10ml choice is linked to the main product (shown on the website) and the 30ml, 50ml and 100ml choices are linked to newly created hidden products. However, all choices give double their weight......

The component has the 'component as separate order line ticked'.

Please let me know if you have any ideas....

I have been able to reproduce this problem here, Actinic is adding the weight in for the main product even though you have specified no order line for main product. To resolve this issue you need to make a new hidden product, link the 10ml to that one and then make the weight of the main product 0.

I don't know if this is a bug or not it could be working as designed but it is a bit confusing.

Thanks Jan for taking the to re-create scenario.

I did have a go on one product to add a hidden 10ml and set weight to nil, however, I also changed stock level to 0 so and of course the item showed as out of stock.

That's when I thought there must be an easier way or I was doing something wrong ! However, I'll try again with disabled stock monitoring on the main product (or insert just one item if that doesn't work) and hopefully all will be OK.

If you are using hidden products with stock monitoring then you should switch stock monitoring on for the hidden products and off for the main product, so once you have done that is should work.
