    HELP! Scripts not working

    Hi

I've just switched from test mode to update my site to the "live" acatalog folder and now none of my basket, checkout, or other pages using .pl files can be accessed, with an "HTTP 500 internal server error" being displayed. I've refreshed and updated my site lots of times with no success. A server error or Actinic error? Any opinions will be appreciated!

    Cheers

    Hi there.

Does the network test under 'Advanced | Network settings pass? Also, did it work in test mode?

    What is your URL please?

      Hi Darren

The test in advanced | newtork settings has passed ok. I've noticed that the add to cart script is working, but not the others. The site was working perfectly well in test mode.

      the url is https://ssl.iomart.com/bpssport.co.u...log/index.html

      Cheers

I had a quick look and to be honest it looks like Iomart have what I would describe as a higglytipiggly server setup.

Your whole site is running HTTPS and you normally just use this for checkout pages.

What is your real domain name as I dont think you will be asking anyone to type https://ssl.iomart.com/bpssport.co....alog/index.html into the browser.

Can you export your network settings and post them here.

          Thanks for the reply.

The http url is www.bpssport.co.uk/acatalog/index.html. This still doesn't explain why the site was working well in test mode and not now - the .pl script links are all absolute so a change of folder should not of made any difference should it?

I've attached the network settings - I've not done this before so I hope this is ok.

          Cheers for your help

            Coggy

I removed the attachment as it had your passwords in it. Could you possibly re-post the settings, but edited to remove sensitive info?

I think the 'Path from CGI-BIN to acatalog Directory' is wrong.

                  It is currently ../public_html/acatalog/

                  Your cgi-bin URL is
                  https://ssl.iomart.com/cgi-bin/bpssport.co.uk/
                  and your Catalog URL is
                  https://ssl.iomart.com/bpssport.co.uk/acatalog/

Therefore the 'Path from...' field looks like it should be:

                  ../../bpssport.co.uk/acatalog/

Check the folders on your site and see whether this is the path you have to go to get from 'cgi-bin/bpssport.co.uk/' to 'bpssport.co.uk/acatalog/'

                    Hi Chris

I've just had a look at the folder structure on the server and it matches the original 'Path from CGI-BIN' and when I tried to change it as suggested, an error message was displayed confirming that the new path was invalid. I guess the urls given by the hosting company are somewhat 'virtual'.

This is really bugging me now?! Could the permissions of the .pl files been changed in any way?

                    Cheers

Could the permissions of the .pl files been changed in any way?
Absolutely. Server software updates sometimes have the effect of resetting file permissions. Check that the *.pl files have a permission of 755 and the *.pm have a permission of 644.

To be honest, the Community has not got a great track record of solving tricky server configuration issues. You would be much better off registering an email support query at http://www.actinic.co.uk/support/register.htm The support team will ask for a snapshot and try your settings out for themselves.
