    2 Websites 1 Machine

We have 2 websites and up til now have always had these on 2 seperate machines.

We have now decided that we would attempt to add both of these sites to the one computer.

We have done this but now find that we have problems as when we now try to download orders through this computer it brings up an error message which says there is a conflict?

We think this is because the software for the one website is slightly more updated than the other as the server version says 6 DDVA and the Client Version says 6 DNNA.

If we remove the added website will the settings automatically revert to the original settings?

Any help, advice, or suggestions greatfully received?!

By the sounds of it, the server is running a lesser version than the machine you are now uploading from...

    DDVA - 6.1.2
    DNNA - 6.1.4

However, if you know you have orders sitting up on the server, it would be best to download these on your old machine that has 6.1.2(DDVA) installed.

Then, as you are moving the site from one machien to another, make sure you suspend ordering on your site, then wait for about half an hour and download any orders.

Once that is done, you need to move the site from the old machine to the new one.

Do this by taking a snapshot (File | Snapshot | Export Site) and importing it (File | Snapshot | Import Site) on the new machine.

You should find that on importing, it will upgrade the site to 6.1.4, once that has finished, you will need to enable ordering again, then run a Web | Refresh Website.

Now you have have the 2 sites on one machine, on 6.1.4 DNNA and the server version should be the same aswell.

Now you shouldnt have any problems downloading orders.

      2 Websites 1 Machine

Thanks for the reply, however, I feel that you have misread the query?

We have already added the 2 sites onto the 1 machine, however, the machine that we have added the new site onto would appear to be running the older version and hence this is where the conflict is occuring?

The site that we have added has only been put onto this machine in case of emergencies (i.e. should the machine that it is actually run from stop working)?

What would happen if we remove this other site? Will the original site revert back to the old version?

We need to be able to get back into this site ASAP as at present we know that there are orders which we cannot download and hence cannot dispatch.

WE NEED TO BE ABLE TO DOWNLOAD AND UPLOAD ASAP!!!!

      Please help!!!!!

If you removed the old site, the version would stay the same - you can see this in Help | About...

The best thing to do would be upgrade your Actinic software to the latest version 6.1.5 (patch available from www.actinicdownloads.com/v6), upgrade your 2 sites to 6.1.5, then refresh the website, then the client and server version will be indentical, and you should not get any conflict errors.

        Hope that helps

However when you upgrade a site you are offered the option of upgrading the templates but one of the choices is to leave it until later. If you did this then the sites will be incompatible. This is the only way that I can think off that would enable you to have two sites at different versions of V6 on one machine.

If you don't want to upgrade to 6.1.5 then you could import another snapshot from your old machine and then it should upgrade again, this would allow you to check that you upgrade all of the templates. As James said, you would need to download the orders that are currently there on your old machine and then suspend ordering on that site before you move the site over again.
