Attributes and Components

Hi all,
I am trying to add a new component (buy this as an extra with the main prod) but the main product has size attributes on it. I have tried cutting the attributes then adding them once the new component is set up but i get an error saying it is not possible to have attributes on a product which already contains components???

Sorry, have sorted it - it wouldnt let me do it until I de- checked the associated product prices/tax etc.
