    Re: Download Error

    Hi

I posted a thread not long ago about an error msg I occasionally get when downloading orders, pls see previous thread dated 23rd August. I thought I had resolved the problem, but I have started getting the msg again. Orders do download after clicking ok on the error msg, but I am concerned whether it is likely to cause major problems.
I have a snapshot of the site that I took prior to the error msg and thought I may give that a go, but I have added quite a few changes of products since then. I wondered if there was a way, to save the current data for the product changes and import them to the catalogue after importing the previous snapshot?
Or if anyone knows of any other reason why its happening and can suggest anything else other than importing a previous snapshot, it would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Hi Johanne

I suggest that you FTP to your server and then physically delete all the .FIL and .CAT files from the Acatalog folder, also remove these files from your site folder and then do a full web refresh from Web | Refresh Website.

If you still want to import the old snapshot but keep all the new data you have, what you can do is use a CSV file to achieve this. Go to File| Export, click on next and choose Catalog when it asks "Please select the data you wish to export". This will create a file that contains all the new data you have put in, save this file. Then you can import the old snapshot and after that is complete import the CSV file back into Actinic through File|Import(choose Hierarchical Import).

    Hope this helps

      Hi Kiran

Thanks for your reply, I will give this a go and see what happens.
I just wondered though, when you say to delete the .FIL and .CAT files from the site folder, do you mean to delete them within the software? or as well as the ones in acatalog when I have FTP'd to my server?

      Many Thanks

        Hi

Sorry I should have been a little bit more specific, by site folder I meant the folder on your computer that contains the site it usually is C:\Program Files\Actinic Ecommerce...\Sites\Site1(or the name you have given it).

        Cheers

          Hi Kiran

Thanks......I just have one more query regarding the .CAT files. In my site folder (Site 1), am I right in assuming the folders saying 'Security Catalog' are the .CAT files? as they don't have the .CAT extension after them, (they all start with A000 etc.), although when I FTP'd to my server these same files do have the .CAT file extension?

          Thanks

            Hi Jojo

            Those are the *.cat files.

Can I suggest you go to 'Tools | Folder Options | View' in Windows Explorer and un-tick where it says 'Hide file extensions for known file types'.

              Hi Chris

              Thanks.
I have now refreshed my site, but after deleting the .CAT & .FIL files both from my server and from the site folder, I did encounter one problem...when I started the Web Refresh, an error prompt appeared saying 'ActinicSCCode.fil was not found (as I'd deleted it), I had put copies of all the files in another folder just in case, so I had to put this one file back into the Site 1 folder, before being able to do the Web Refresh. Was this right for this to happen?

I'm not sure whether the problem has been fixed yet as I need to wait for a few orders to download first.

              Thanks

Whoops - I didn't spot you were on v5. Had I realised I would have warned you about that. Did you find another ActinicSCCode.fil OK? There is one in the \Actinic ecommerce v5\Formats\Themes\Business folder.

                  Re: Download Error

......Yes, I did make a copy of all the .CAT & .FIL files before I deleted them and put them in another folder (not within the Actinic site though), so I just put that particular file back in the Site 1 folder, when I received the error.
It seems ok so far, but still need to download a few more orders 1st, hopefully though it will be ok.

                  Thanks

                    Hi

Just thought I'd let you know that I have started to get the error message again unfortunately.
I would've thought that deleting the .CAT & .FIL files would have solved the problem, I'm not sure why it hasn't worked?
I thought I'd try importing an earlier snapshot before the error started, hopefully that will fix it for the time being, but if you have any other suggestions for the cause, I'd appreciate it.

                    Thanks
