using navigation elements to take someone up a level (outside the acatalog folder)

Is it a simple task to place additional navigation buttons in the horizontal bar of the brochure template?

I've tried adding them in Dreamweaver to the template, but when I preview the site they vanish (very strange, and clearly something daft I'm doing). I added new brochure pages and gave them the new buttons .. but actinic won't let me put a path to the pages I want .. do I therefore have to have everything inside the acatalog directory for them to work?

I have a site where there will be two main sections, the store being one of them .. the brochure part currently is simply an introduction to the store. But I kinda wanted a separate section which is nothing to do with the store at all... but could still be accessed from within the store by clicking on a photo or button.

what template did you add the buttons to, was it the Act_primary.html? Did you hard code them ie <img src=> etc? If so these should appear in your catalog, though not in your brochure as these pages are driven off a seperate template.

You don't necessarily have to have everything in your acatalog folder if you hard code the buttons on the Act_Primary.html and send them out of the acatalog folder using ../ you can make the site go anywhere. I use this technique to go to forums and mailing lists which are undoubtedly outside of the acatalog folder.

Now trouble occurs if one is using the brochure part of actinic as some pages generated by this are within the acatalog folder and the site index.html is kept outside, so the hard code for these needs to use the whole address ie http://www.yourdomain.com/forum let's say, then all your brochure created pages will work.

    Hope this helps

Thanks Garry .. to be honest .. I think I must have been working too late!

Clearly something I was trying to do too fast without thinking about it first. I was pretty sure I could address outside the acatalog, but on my hurried attempt it didn't work as intuitively as I'd hoped.

I'll run through your suggestions and give it another go.

      thanks again.
